It is a privilege to join you at the WSIS Forum 2026.
This is the first WSIS Forum following the General Assembly’s twenty-year review, for which UN DESA proudly served as Secretariat.
The message from Member States is crystal clear: the WSIS vision and Action Lines remain essential. Our collective mandate is to elevate that vision into tangible, accelerated action.
For UN DESA, implementation means supporting Member States to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
We are actively advancing WSIS Action Line C7 on e-government to foster policy learning, capacity development, and evidence-based digital transformation.
As the institutional home of the Internet Governance Forum, I warmly invite you to join us at IGF 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya, this December.
This week features important conversations on artificial intelligence, including the inaugural Global Dialogue on AI Governance, and the AI for Good Global Summit.
Looking ahead to 2027, the second Global Dialogue on AI Governance will run parallel to the Science Technology and Innovation Forum in New York, ensuring AI governance remains inextricably linked to sustainable development. The 2027 SDG Summit is a key milestone in this journey.
UN DESA stands ready to partner with you and all stakeholders to align and amplify our efforts.
Our task is urgent: we must close digital divides, strengthen trust, build capacity, and turn our commitments into reality.
