UN-Energy Sets Out Work Programme for 2026-2030
The UN-Energy Work Programme 2026-2030: Powering Opportunity for Everyone was launched on 8 July before a high-level audience at the HLPF Special Event on Implementing the Global Plan of Action for the Decade of Sustainable Energy for All to 2030.
UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed underlined that the Work Programme will put the full weight of the UN 〞 its expertise, and its convening power 〞 at the service of countries, working through Resident Coordinators and Country Teams, responding to national priorities with expertise on demand and strengthening existing mechanisms.
The Work Programme outlines collective action to be taken by the 30 UN system and partner organizations that comprise UN-Energy, in six key areas: Foresight, Acceleration, Partnerships, Data, Convening and Communications. It is complemented by a Joint Action Portfolio which translates the Work Programme into a rolling set of joint actions, annual workplans and shared outputs through which UN-Energy members and partners can coordinate delivery of action, strengthen system-wide coherence and maintain accountability for progress on SDG 7.
