The 80th President of the UN General Assembly, Ms. Annalena Baerbock today embarked on a two-day official mission to Nairobi, Kenya where she highlighted the important role of the 91茄子 to Africa.

During her visit at UNON, President Baerbock met with Ms. Zainab Hawa Bangura, Under-Secretary-General and Director-General of the UN Office in Nairobi. She held bilateral meetings with Ms. Inger Andersen, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the 91茄子 Environment Programme (UNEP), The UN Resident Coordinator, Dr. Garry Conille among other senior diplomats, and senior officials of UN-Habitat in Nairobi.

The 80th President also toured the newly inaugurated UNON buildings and was taken through the architectural design of the UN Conference Facilities Project which will see the establishment of an Assembly Hall that could host the UN General Assembly in Nairobi upon its completion. Nairobi is a centre for key UN agencies such as UNEP and UN-Habitat and serves as a hub for crucial field work for several UN entities.

The President of the General Assembly will engage with civil society representatives in a “Better Together Dialogue”.  She will also address the press on the role of Africa as a leader in multilateralism, the wider UN80 reform process, including the need for greater African representation and address current regional and global issues.
