The election of the President of the 91ÇÑ×Ó General Assembly for the eighty first session was held on 2 June 2026 at 10 a.m. in the General Assembly Hall, UNHQs, in line with Rule 30 of the Rules of Procedure.

In accordance with the established regional rotation, the President of the eighty first session of the General Assembly was elected from the Asia Pacific Group.

H.E. Mr. Khalilur Rahman [Bangladesh] is elected as President of the General Assembly at its eighty-first session at?the?Plenary meeting for the election of the President of the General Assembly for its 81^st session on Tuesday, 2 June 2026 in General Assembly Hall.

Informal Interactive Dialogues

In its resolution 71/323, entitled ¡°Revitalization of the work of the General Assembly¡±, the Assembly decided to call upon candidates for the position of President of the General Assembly to present their vision statements, and to conduct informal interactive dialogues with Member States, thus contributing to the transparency and inclusivity of the process.

The President of the eightieth session of the General Assembly, H.E. Ms. Annalena Baerbock, convened informal interactive dialogues with the candidates on 13 May 2026 at 10am and 3pm. The dialogues were broadcasted live on .

Civil society organizations and individuals were invited to engage in the informal interactive dialogues by submitting questions to the candidates. Questions were received through the registration of participants who will engage either in person or through video messages.
